Frequently Asked Questions
Who are you?
-
We are Testing Authority, the office that helps candidates with the postal battery exam.
Are you legitimate?
-
Yes. Our local chamber of commerce (Gwinnett Chamber) recognized us with their "Pinnacle Award",
which is their top award, in April of 2008.
In addition, the Atlanta Business Chronicle recently ranked us as the 10th fastest privately
owned company in Atlanta and awarded us the "Pacesetters Award".
Where are the jobs available?
-
Typically you are placed in a position within 30 miles of where you live.
Is the Post Office hiring in my area right now?
-
Your enrollment includes a list of all the positions currently available in your area, as well as access to any new ones as they become available.
Am I guaranteed a job?
-
You are guaranteed a refund if you do not pass the exam or if you are not offered a job during your first interview.
What's on the test?
-
There are 4 separately timed sections, testing you in memory, number sequencing, coding and verbal comprehension.
Do I have to pay $149.45 to take the test?
-
The fee is for the study materials you need to to help you prepare.
When will the test be given?
-
You will be notified by mail once you follow the instructions that are included in your enrollment packet.
Where do I take the exam?
-
The exam will be given at a postal facility in your area. Simply follow the instructions included in the enrollment packet we send to you,
and then you will be contacted with the date, time and location of the exam.
What are you sending me?
-
A comprehensive packet with everything you need to move forward. The main part is a 340 page study guide, with tips on how to ace the exam,
and several complete practice exams just like the one you will take on exam day.
I called/visited my local Post Office and they said they weren't hiring?
-
Policy prohibits local branches from discussing positions with candidates. The correct procedures to follow are included in our enrollment packet,
along with a list of all the positions currently available in your area.
What if I have a felony on my record?
-
It depends on the felony and how long ago you were convicted. But you can discuss that in the interview.
Do I have to have a driver's license?
-
Only for positions that require you to drive.
But the Post Office provides study materials for free?
-
There is a big difference from what the Post Office gives you for free and what you receive from Testing Authority.
The free materials does not include complete practices exams, they only provide samples of what you will see on exam day.
Your Testing Authority enrollment includes a 340 page comprehensive study guide, complete with several full length practice exams.
Timing yourself on these practice exams in advance will help you maintain a
pace that enables you to complete the entire exam and get the highest score possible.
You will also receive a personality profile, learning assessment, resources to help you during the interview process,
and automatic email notifications of emails in your area.
There is a study guide at the library that I can get for free?
-
We hear from clients often that the guides in most libraries are very outdated. The exams have been recently changed.
I do not speak English, is that required?
-
The exam is given in English, and so are the study materials, but we do have bilingual agents on hand to help if you have any questions.
Why doesn't the Post Office support or recommend your company?
-
The Post Office does not endorse any company who provides assistance to candidates taking their exam.
The reason they give the exam is to determine how good a candidate you are. The Post Office feels, therefore,
that they are not getting a true reading of the candidate.
Why does the Post Office say you guys are a scam and I should not be asked to pay anything?
-
Unfortunately, the Post Office says that about every company selling study materials for their exam. There are a few companies who claim
that positions are guaranteed to be open, or that candidates are guaranteed a job if they simply pass the exam. We don't make promises like
that. The bottom line is, if you want a job with the Post Office, you need to do well on the exam, and if you prepare using our materials,
you will increase your changes of getting a higher score. We guarantee, in writing, a refund if you do not pass the exam or if you are not offered a job on that first interview.
Why did the USPS web site not have a position listed in my area but you claim I can register for exam materials in my area?
-
Positions come and go frequently, and are only posted for 5 days, so it's best to check back at least once a week. Registering for
the study materials in advance of announced openings is a good idea because it assures that you will have enough time to prepare for the
exam when a position does become available.
Are there full-time, part-time and seasonal positions available?
-
Most positions allow for all types of schedules, and this is typically reviewed during the interview process.
Does the Post Office give preferential treatment to veterans?
-
Veterans receive 5 to 10 additional points on their exam score, depending on the status of the discharge.
How long does it take to get my test results?
-
You receive your grade in the mail within 2 weeks.
How do I request a refund if I fail the exam, do not get offered a job on the interview, or work at least one full week for the USPS?
-
All you do is fax us a copy of either your grade or rejection letter, or a copy of your pay stub along with your request for refund and we'll process it that same day.
Will I receive a refund for the full amount of the enrollment, including tax, shipping and handling as well?
-
The enrollment fee of $129.45 will be refunded.
What does my enrollment fee cover?
- Your Testing Authority enrollment includes a 340 page comprehensive study guide, complete with several full length practice exams.
Timing yourself on these practice exams in advance will help you maintain a
pace that enables you to complete the entire exam and get the highest score possible.
You will also receive a personality profile, learning assessment, resources to help you during the interview process,
and automatic email notifications of emails in your area.
How many interviews will I get?
-
It varies by city, but if you are not offered a job on your first interview, you are eligible for a refund.
Is there an age limit for applicants to work for the USPS?
-
You must be at least 18. There is no age limit.
